April 2011

I just realized the other day when Jackson turned 7 months, that I have not updated my blog in a long time! We have been pretty busy, so I will try to summarize all that has happened in these past months.

In December Brayden turned 2 and we celebrated the holidays with our family and friends. We also had many goodbye parties before our move. January we moved to California. It has been a pretty smooth transition. We got Ryan right into pre-school and Brayden right into therapy and Jackson has almost lived half his life in California now. Ryan LOVES school and has learned sooo much since we have been here. It's amazing! When we left NY he knew some of his letters and could not write any....Now he knows all his letters, can write them and can write his first and last name. He can draw stick people and colors pictures and is just doing great! Any free time, he chooses to sit and write- I LOVE it. He will ask how to spell words as he writes them and it is just a huge improvement.

Brayden has started OT, PT and Speech therapy here and is doing well. He seems to enjoy it a little more than he did. He definitely does not scream as much as he used to. He has transitioned well to CA and enjoys being outside a lot more. He has been laughing a lot more and seems to be happier overall.

Jackson is HUGE! He is doing much better eating. After changing formula a million times we have finally found the one that makes him feel good and tastes good to him. He loves his baby food and is gaining weight like a champ. He is sitting on his own and very nosey and interested in everything going on around him. You can see him soaking EVERYTHING in. He is a happy boy!

On a more serious note, Brayden is getting surgery done as I write this. This is the reason I have a few hours to update the blog. He has been throwing up a lot still, more than he has in a while. He is still slowly gaining weight but it has come to a point where we have tried all medications and all other options to stop the throwing up and it hasn't really helped. It isn't like a little baby spitting up anymore...he hates it. He cries and when it's bad, it comes up his nose and basically it is just horrible! We have decided with the doctor and surgeon's help to get a fundoplication. This is pretty much the tying off of his esophogus so it will now be a one way valve and nothing can come up it. He can not have acid reflux anymore, can not throw up anymore and not even burp.

It is extremely scary and something I never thought we would do but we have exhausted all other options at this point. So, hopefully this will help and make Brayden's life a better life! I will update you on the surgery and try to write more often. Hopefully I will get a chance to update soon.
